Jugraj brother nets 7 as India slam Lanka 17-1

Karachi: Penalty corner specialist Sandeep Singh scored seven goals, including the tournament’s first double hattrick, to help reigning world junior champions India crush Sri Lanka 17-1 in the junior Asia Cup on Thursday.

The 19-year-old Sandeep, younger brother of Jugraj Singh, scored almost at will as India secured their second big win in group B after blanking China 10-0. Hari Prasad, Tushar Handker and captain Sandeep Michael scored a brace each while William Xalxo, Girish Pimpale, Nitin Kumar and Muthuselvan netted one each.

South Korea registered a 5-0 win over Singapore.

India bettered Pakistan’s record of the biggest victory (15-1 vs Chinese Taipei) in the meet. (PTI)
