Minister’s aide in CBI net

New Delhi, April 19: The CBI has booked the officer on special duty to the junior social empowerment and justice minister for allegedly abusing his official position while posted in Mumbai.

Neeraj Singh, an Indian Revenue Service officer of the 1994 batch, had entered into a criminal conspiracy with a private firm, Gibralter Finance and Investment, for pecuniary benefit, the CBI said.

The bureau clarified that the charge related to the period before Singh joined the office of minister Nagmani. Singh’s offices and houses both in Delhi and Mumbai were raided today.

According to the bureau, Singh was dealing with an income tax case of the firm and subsequently got his wife employed in one of its sister concerns called Artec Systems for Rs 28,000 a month.

The bureau also found Singh had been staying at a house rented by the Mumbai-based company. He has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
