Record output at Bokaro Steel

Bokaro, April 17 (PTI): The Bokaro Steel Plant of SAIL has registered a record steel production in 2003-04 and lined up an investment of Rs 1,900 crore for next three years to augment the capacity for hot metal production and quality upgradation.

BSP recorded an all-time high saleable steel production of 3.45 million tonnes and crude steel production of 3.753 MT in 2003-04, company managing director U. P. Singh said here.

The company also expected about 17 per cent increase in turnover to about Rs 7,300 crore compared with Rs 6,200 crore recorded in 2002-03 along with a record profit during the year.

Stating that the company has decided to augment its capacity to meet the growing demand, Singh said, “An investment totalling Rs 1,900 crore has been earmarked for the next two to three years to raise hot metal production and quality upgradation.
