Tillekeratne dropped

Colombo: Former skipper Hashan Tillekeratne was not included in the Sri Lankan squad to tour Zimbabwe. Tillekeratne quit as captain following the 0-3 Test series loss to Australia last month — Sri Lanka’s first on home soil since 2001 — but had made himself available as a batsman.

Opener Maravan Atapattu was confirmed as captain of both the Test and limited-overs squads for the five one-dayers and two Tests in Zimbabwe.

Muttiah Muralidharan has also been included in the squad.

Sri Lanka have won eight and drawn five of the 13 Tests against Zimbabwe. This will be Sri Lanka’s third Test tour of Zimbabwe after a drawn series in 1994 and a 1-0 win in ’99.

THE SQUAD

Maravan Atapattu (captain), Mahela Jayawardene (vice-captain), Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Russel Arnold, Saman Jayantha, Thilina Kandamby, Chaminda Vaas, Nuwan Zoysa, Dilhara Fernando, Nuwan Kulasekera, Farveez Maharoof, Mutptiah Muralidharan, Upul Chandana, Rangana Herath.
