Bangalore, March 22 (PTI): Atal Bihari Vajpayee had said the NDA must think of alternative leaders, but agreed to lead the country after the BJP and allies said he must carry on, BJP chief M. Venkaiah Naidu disclosed today.

“The Prime Minister expressed a desire... ‘I have been in politics for long. Why (do) not we think of alternatives’? (But) The entire party and NDA and all of us told him in one voice... ‘No sir. You must lead the nation’,” Naidu said.

“He has agreed and he is leading the nation,” Naidu said.
