Sristi bags national awards

Sristi, a cultural organisation, has bagged four awards in the seventh national multi-lingual drama competition in Jamshedpur recently.

The organisation won the awards by staging Shyamprasad Sharma’s acclaimed play Amritam Gamaya.

Lecture

The third A.C. Dutta memorial lecture and award ceremony was held at Cotton College recently. Principal scientist of the National Bureau of Plant Generatic Research, Meghalaya, D.K. Hore, delivered the lecture on the Northeast’s biodiversity.

Blood donation

The Assam Gujarat Voluntary Blood Bank and Research Centre organised a free blood grouping and donation camp at Panbazar on the occasion of Netaji’s birth anniversary on Friday.

MP fund

Congress MP Dwijen Sarma has sanctioned Rs 20 lakh from his local area development fund for renovating a park at Japorigog. The residents of the area have asked the GMC not to hand over work to any private party.

Jubilee

R.G. Baruah College will celebrate its silver jubilee function from January 29 on the college premises. The celebration comprises tree plantation, reunion of former students and a seminar on higher education.

Foundation

The foundation of Vedic Yajnasala was laid at the Vedic Vidyalaya campus at Rupnagar on Sunday. Asam Sahitya Sabha president Birendranath Datta was the guest of honour.

Yoga

The Gauhati Medical College Hospital will organise a five-day free meditation and yoga camp at its PMRT Hall from Tuesday.

Health camp

Janasevak, a socio-cultural organisation, organised a free health camp at St Stephen’s School at Christian Basti on Sunday.

A meeting of the State Bank of India Pensioners’ Association was held at the SBI Staff Training Centre in Ulubari on Saturday.
