Calcutta: Utpal Chatterjee has decided to opt out of the East Zone squad for their forthcoming Deodhar Trophy match against West Zone starting Thursday.

The CAB joint secretary Bablu Koley informed Tuesday that the veteran left-arm spinner communicated his decision to the association on Monday.

He said the decision was taken to allow younger players in the side.

Rookie left-arm spinner Anirban Chatterjee has been included in his place.

However, Utpal made it clear that the decision hasn’t been taken to allow youngsters come up.

“I didn’t feel like going, that’s all,” he said. Utpal also added he will be available when Bengal play in the national one-day meet.
