Winter festivals

Kite festival at Sanskriti — the Gurukul, near Balaji Temple. The seventh Brahmaputra Beach Festival begins with a five-day-long bonanza at two venues, at the sand beach near Jahajghat at Uzanbazar and Judges Field. Five-day festival of Assam 2004, organised by In Tandem, at the Court Field, Jorhat, from Thursday. Bhogali Mela 2004, organised by the Assam Apex Tourism Development Co-operative Society Ltd and Guwahati Sports and Socio-Cultural Organisation, will be held at Brahmaputra beach from January 16 to 25. A daylong children’s festival, organised by Guwahati Zila Maina Parijat, at Dakshin Guwahati Lachitgarh High School, Garchuk Chariali, next Tuesday. Elephant Festival, organised by Assam forest and tourism department, at Kaziranga National Park from January 29 to February 1.

Book fair

Anwesha, a non-governmental organsation, is organising a book exhibition for students at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sishu Vidyalaya, Rangiya, from Sunday.

Programmes

A special programme for women on the eve of Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight, 2004, organised by Petroleum Conservation Research Association, at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati, on Friday. A three-day entrepreneurship training programme at Lalit Bharali College, Guwahati, from January 21 to 23.
