Ahmedabad: Bengal finished their Ranji Trophy engagements with nine points after Gujarat played out the final day of the Elite Group B match on Sunday losing only two wickets. They stand fourth in the group, after Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad and Karnataka.
Assam hold on to their Elite Group place with six points while Rajasthan have been relegated with four points.
Trailing by 300 runs in the first innings, Gujarat scored 384 for three at stumps. A. A. Christian (103), A. Sood (100 n.o.) and N.K. Patel (118) helped the visitors bat out the day. For Bengal, Sourashish Lahiri and Amitava Chakraborty took one wicket each on the final day.
With Shib Shankar Paul not around (out with an injury), Bengal lacked tooth in their attack.
Earlier, Bengal scored 479 after Gujarat were bowled out for 179 in the first innings.
