London: Chelsea beat Portsmouth 3-0 in post-break strikes and a ten-man Manchester United beat Middlesbrough 1-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

Wayne Bridge rifled home in the 65th minute and Frank Lampard hit the second. And Cameroon midfielder Geremi got his first goal for Chelsea in the 82nd minute.

United proved too strong, despite having Darren Fletcher sent off in the second half.

Boro defender Danny Mills deflected in a shot from midfielder Quinton Fortune on 14 minutes.

Elsewhere Newcastle United lost to Blackburn Rovers 0-1, Aston Villa beat Fulham 3-0, Tottenham Hotspurs lost to Charlton Athletic 0-1, Everton beat Birmingham City 1-0 and Manchester City and Liverpool drew 2-2.
