| Krishnagar, Dec. 26: The doctor whom villagers had asked to leave when he attended a primary health centre after seven days was transferred today to the block-level hospital at Bishnupur in the same district. When Dr Supriyo Mitra turned up at the health centre at Asannagar in Nadia, 110 km from Calcutta, on Tuesday, villagers pulled him up for his long and frequent absenteeism. The district’s chief medical officer of health, Prabas Chowdhury, said Mitra was transferred today. “It is true that Mitra was irregular without informing the authorities. I have transferred him. Now Writers’ Buildings can decide on further action against him,” he said. A probe has begun and its findings will be sent to the director of health services. |
