Court relief for Naidu

Hyderabad, Dec. 15: Andhra Pradesh High Court today stayed a city civil courtís order directing the anti-corruption bureau to investigate alleged irregularities by the . Chandrababu Naidu administration in a liquor procurement case.

Justice C.Y. Somayajula, who presided over a single bench, passed the order after a petition was filed challenging the civil courtís December 12 move to order an investigation.

Posting a hearing on the petition for tomorrow, the high court also directed the bureau not to start investigations against Naidu and his colleagues till the plea is disposed.

Criminal lawyer C. Padmanabha Reddy filed the petition on behalf of minister T. Nageswar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporationís former managing director Veerabhadraiah, arguing that the civil courtís action was one-sided and mechanical.

The civil court order was passed last Friday on a public interest litigation that the Congressí legal cell convenor . Krishna Kumar Goud had filed.
