Buddha plea to Cong

Calcutta, Dec. 8: Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee urged the state Congress not to have any link with the Trinamul Congress — “an extension” of the BJP — after the poll debacle in three states.

“You have lost to the BJP in the three states. Trinamul Congress is an ally of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and is responsible for the growth of communal forces in West Bengal. I hope you will reconsider your position and never forge links with Trinamul Congress,” Bhattacharjee said while replying to a no-confidence motion brought by the Trinamul and supported by the Congress.

“I don’t find any reason to repose our trust on the Left Front government and I am supporting the no-confidence motion,” Congress legislature party leader Atish Chandra Sinha said.

“The government has failed miserably in every respect and we will be opposing the government, not only with Trinamul Congress but also with the BJP if necessary,” Sinha said.
