KLO militant held

Siliguri, Nov. 29: Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) militant Pabitra Kumar Singha, alias Pavel Dev, was arrested from Panitanki near here this afternoon.

Singha, wanted by the police for a long time, had come to meet his family from his hideout in Bihar when police were tipped off by local residents, Siliguri additional superintendent of police Rajeev Mishra said.

Dowry verdict

Krishnagar: The Nadia district sessions court has sentenced Suresh Hazra, a BSF jawan, to life imprisonment for burning his wife, Lopamudra, alive six years ago as her family had failed to meet his dowry demands.

Trains delayed

Bolpur: Several long-distance trains were delayed near here as train services were disrupted in Eastern Railway’s Sahebgunj loop line on Saturday when the engine of a goods train jumped rails near Ahmedpur station.
