Tata Tele team for expansion

Mumbai, Nov. 28: The Tatas, late-starters in the race to make a national presence in the telecom sector, have appointed a core team to oversee the setting up of operations in 11 new circles. The team will also augment the existing six circles so that the 17 circles together can service seven million subscribers.

Tata Teleservices, the basic and CDMA telephony company, today announced the appointment of Ajay Pandey as president of the team. He will report to managing director S. Ramakrishnan.

Prior to this assignment, Pandey was the president of the Tata Indicom Enterprise Business Unit (Tiebu), the Tata group's telecom corporate solutions cell. He was also the chief of Tata Internet Services and will retain this post.

Sandeep Mathur, chief operating officer of the Andhra Circle, will take over as President Tata Indicom Enterprise Business Unit. He will also continue as chief operating officer of the Andhra Pradesh Circle.
