More trouble for Chambers

Paris: European 100m champion Dwain Chambers, already facing a two-year ban for doping, was named on Tuesday as one of the two athletes to have tested positive for the designer steroid tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) at the Paris world championships.

The L’Equipe said the British athlete and US shot putter Kevin Toth were the two men to have been caught when all 400 urine samples were re-tested for THG.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) ordered all urine samples to be re-tested when the previously unheard-of THG was discovered. IAAF president Lamine Diack refused to confirm the two athletes were the positive cases as they were still waiting the B sample test results.

Champion banned

Olympic shot put champion Yanina Korolchik of Belarus has been banned for two years after failing a drugs test, a spokesman for international athletics’ governing body said on Tuesday, adds a report from London. The 26-year-old won gold at the Sydney Olympics. (Agencies)
