Susovan, Neha best

Calcutta, Nov. 22: Susovan Das and Delhi girl Neha Agarwal claimed the sub-junior singles titles at the East Zone national ranking table tennis meet today.

Susovan, a Centre of Excellence (CoE) student who won the national cadet crown two years ago, beat another local boy Souvik Kar 4-2 in the final this evening. In the girls’ final, Neha blanked Joyeeta Pushilal 4-0.

The men’s final will feature Soumyadeep Roy and Sharath Kamal. Soumyadeep breezed past Arup Basak, who was a trifle lucky earlier in the day when S. Raman withdrew from the quarter final with a sore neck.

Sharath Kamal was taken the full distance by Suvajit Saha Sr in the second semi-final.

Poulami Ghatak stormed into the women’s final with a convincing win over Anindita Chakraborty. Also through was Mamta Prabhu who saw off Nandita Saha 4-1.
