Barasat/Behrampore, Nov. 19: Five-year-old Satish Kumar, who was kidnapped yesterday from Titagarh in North 24-Parganas, was found in Tarapur area of Farakka in Murshidabad district today. A team of five police officials has left for New Farakka, 300 km from Calcutta, to bring the child back.

Police said Satish was kidnapped last evening from his house at S.V. Path in Titagarh by a 30-year-old man who was later identified as Rafikul. The two reached New Farakka late last night and Rafikul confined Satish in his maternal uncle’s house at Tarapur.

This morning, Satish’s father Trinath Kumar received a phone call demanding Rs 1 lakh as ransom. The call was traced to a booth in Ghoraipur near New Farakka and Titagarh police informed their counterparts in Murshidabad. Trinath received another phone call around 12.30 pm. This time, the call was traced to another booth in New Farakka.

Around 2 pm, plainclothesmen posted in front of the two booths in Murshidabad noticed a young man who fitted one of the descriptions of possible suspects given by Trinath, approaching a booth and nabbed him.
