Stamp scam

New Delhi, Nov. 18: The Rs 3000-crore stamp paper scam today took a turn with the Supreme Court directing a public interest litigation for hearing “in normal course”, reports our legal correspondent.

A bench, presided by Chief Justice V.. Khare before whom the petition was mentioned during the mention hour, directed the registry to post it for hearing “in the normal course”.

Hearing in the “normal course” means that the registry will give the petition a number according to the status of petitions waiting to be listed for hearing.

The petitioner, Ajay Agarwal, a lawyer in the Supreme Court alleged that the scam involved “almost all the states”.
