French woman killed

Kabul, Nov. 16 (Reuters): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a French woman working for the UN in Afghanistan today and wounded a local driver.

This is the first time a UN expatriate aid worker has been killed in Afghanistan since the overthrow of the Taliban two years ago. The woman, working for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, was killed in a market in Ghazni province, UN spokesperson David Singh said.
