Calcutta: Bengal fetched two points by virtue of a first innings lead against Assam in the Polly Umrigar (under-15) match at Deshbandhu Park, which concluded on Friday.

Bengal, overnight 154 for one, declared their second essay at 277, leaving Assam with 294 to score for an outright win. Rohan Banerjee, who was unbeaten on 82 overnight, made 121.

Brief scores: Bengal 221 & 277/8 decl (Rohan Banerjee 121). Assam 204 & 165/5 (Srirupam Purakayastha 83; Soumya Pakre 2/40). Match drawn.

Assam follow on

Meanwhile, in the Cooch Behar Trophy (under-19) being held in Silchar, Bengal inflicted follow-on on Assam after bowling them out for mere 83 runs in their first innings on the second day.

According to information received here, Debebrata Pal and Sourav Sarkar took four and three wickets respectively, as only four Assam batsmen were able to reach double figure. Surajit Das (2) and Michel Behara (1) were the other wicket takers.
