Accident claims two horses

Calcutta: In a freak accident, two promising youngsters — Sovereign Academy and one by Warrshan out of Yes No Maybeso — died during the track trials on Monday. The Yes No Maybeso baby bolted before the practice, and at the 1,600m post, collided head on with Sovereign Angel who was also practicing for the ‘gates’ certification with three other babies.“The club will be investigating the matter on Wednesday,” said Boman Parakh, secretary RCTC. The following horses were seen working on Tuesday:

Outer sand track

1,600m: Alexine (C. Alford) and Actable (Christopher) in 1-59s; (1,000m) in 1-14s; (400m) 29s. Former was a distance better and moved very well. 1,400m: Adderly (Christopher), Aretino (C. Alford) and Athinai (Rb) in 1-42s; (400m) 30s. First two finished 6 ls ahead of the third horse. Accuser (C. Alford) and Alternator (Rabani) in 1-44s; (400m) 32s. Former was easily 4 ls better. 1,200m: Andropov (C. Alford) and Andreyev (Rb) in 1-33s; (400m) 31s. Former was handy and a length better. 800m: Amaryllis (Christopher) and Assailer (Surrender) in 56s; (400m) 28s. They were level. No Regrets (Rb) in 1-2s; (400m) 29s. Actualite (M. Reuben) in 57s; (400m) 28s. Fit. Among Men (Som) in 1-2s; (400m) 31s. Easy. Classic Tale/Miss Storm Power (Rabani), Princess Xanna (Islam) in 1-0s; (400m) 31s. Former was a length better.They are two-year-olds. Inside Story (Surender) and Anatolia (Rb) in 1-0s; (400m) 30s. They were level. Mayan Hiss (P. Alford), Joy Of Living (Som) in 1-0s; (400m) 30s. Former was a distance better. Latter is a two-year-old. Arrival (Christopher) and Advancer (C. Alford) in 55s; (400m) 29s. Note former who was 4 ls better. Athenia (Surender), Shining Jewel (Rb) and Archery (Rb) in 1-0s; (400m) 31s. First two were 4 ls better. Amicable (Surender) and Crimson Rage (Rb) in 1-0s; (400m) 31s. They were level. 600m: Metal Precieux/Pot Of Gold (Surrender), Arapahoe (Rb) and Alnsr Alwasheek/BroQue Pearl (Rb) in 48s; (400m) 32s. All three were level. They are two-year-olds.

On Monday, gate practice (from 2,000 to 600m): Steinbeck/Artistic (C. Alford), Warrshan/Amazing Returns (Christopher), Batzushka/Alcala (Surender), Sovereign Angel (Maseyk) and Warrshan/Yes No Maybeso (Rb) in 1-44s; (first 800m) 57s. All jumped out well. The first three were almost level. The last named died following an accident. All are two-year-olds.
