Bengal boys fight back

Calcutta: Bengal fought back on Day II of their Polly Umrigar (under-15) Trophy match on Tuesday. They dismissed Assam for 204 to earn a 17-run first-innings lead, thanks to fine bowling by Soumya Pakre and Chandan Pal. In their second essay, Bengal were 154 for one at stumps.

Brief scores: Bengal 221 & 154/1 (Rohan Banerjee 82 batting). Assam 204 (Shibsagar Roy 67, ; Soumya Pakre 6/63).

Police golf

The seventh all-India Police golf championship will be held at the Tollygunge Club on Thursday and Friday. Announcing this, S.I.S. Ahmed, Additional DG (East) BSF, added the meet being held in the city for the first time has attracted record entries. 82 golfers from 24 teams will be in action over two days.
