Three bodies in 24 hours

City sleuths are in a spot with the recovery of three bodies in a span of 24 hours. Police investigations throughout Monday failed to identify the victims.

The body of a youth, in his mid-twenties, was found in a gunny bag in Asgar Mistri Lane, in Topsia, early on Monday. Police said he had been strangled with a nylon cord.

Around the same time, in the Taratala area, police recovered the highly-decomposed body of a five-year-old girl. It was lying on Taratala Road. Preliminary investigation suggested the body had been dumped on the spot on Sunday night.

The body of a middle-aged man was found floating in the Hooghly in the south port area. Police, however, are not sure whether it was a case of murder.
