Sops for exports in offing

New Delhi, Nov. 10 : Commerce minister Arun Jaitley today assured the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) that he would take up the issue of more concessions to exporters with finance minister Jaswant Singh. FIEO has been demanding the restoration of section-80 HHC of the Income-Tax Act exempting export profits from tax. The meeting will also assess the impact of rupee appreciation on exports.

Bayer transfer

Mumbai, Nov 10: Bayer India will consider a proposal to transfer technical and other assets, including manpower, to its wholly-owned subsidiary Bayer Polychem (India) at its board meeting on Wednesday.

Gail loan

New Delhi, Nov. 10 : Gail (India) Ltd plans to prepay a high-cost Rs 500-crore Asian Development Bank loan by raising debt from domestic market through a bonds issue in January.

Power report

New Delhi, Nov. 10 : The task force on the power sector, headed by Planning Commission member N. K. Singh, would submit its report to the government by the month-end, power secretary R. V. Shahi said today.

New Delhi, Nov. 10 : National Hydroelectric Power Corporation has approached the RBI seeking permission to raise $100 million external commercial borrowings, a company official said here.
