Ahmedabad, Nov. 3: Curfew was relaxed for 90 minutes this afternoon in Viramgam town, where communal clashes had broken out yesterday during a local cricket match, reports our correspondent.
Between 2 and 3.30 pm, women stepped out to buy essential commodities while police patrolled the town.
Deputy Inspector-General (Ahmedabad range) A.K. Sharma said no untoward incident was reported over the last 24 hours in the town that had not suffered any major communal clash during the post-Godhra riots.
The curfew was imposed around 11.30 last morning after groups from two communities clashed over a cricket ball that strayed and allegedly landed in a temple or, according to residents, smashed into the window of a house.
