Fifa slams Bagan again

The Fifa has again pulled up Mohun Bagan as defaulters. Having paid up the demand of $ 11,000 to George Ekeh was not the end, it seems.

Fifa has now sent a letter to the AIFF, asking Mohun bagan to cough up the amount due to another foreigner on its rolls: Isa Musah Eroje. The money will have to be paid “immediately”, the letter says, and as a penalty Fifa has ordered that Mohun Bagan may not enrol any foreigner between November 15 and 30.

Arup, Kanchan win

Veteran Arup Basak beat Sourav Sengupta 11-5, 9-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-6 to emerge champion in the men's singles of the second central Calcutta district table tennis championships, which concluded on Tuesday. The women's title went to Arup's wife - Kanchan Basak.

BFJA assurance

Amid protests for holding the annual award ceremony at Salt Lake Stadium, Bengal Film Journalists' Association said it would go ahead with its plans on November 1, a day before Super Division league play-off, but assured that no damage would be caused to the ground.
