Youth cons teens with tease trap

A youth was held on Saturday for duping two teenagers of Rs 250 in the guise of a policeman.

Amit Mishra, 28, accosted the teenagers at the Moulali crossing on Friday night and accused them of eve-tease. “An employee of a garment shop in Burrabazar, Amit intercepted Mukti Bhattacharya and his friend when they were walking down the Moulali crossing,” said Naseem Ali, officer-in-charge of Muchipara police station.

“He pretended to be an officer of Taltala police station and charged them with eve-tease,” said Ali. Mishra also accused the duo of selling ganja in the locality. “The man demanded Rs 500 from us. When we refused to oblige, he slapped us and took out the money from our wallets,” Mukti said. From the description provided by the teenagers, the police tracked him down.
