IFA not to reduce fines

The IFA has turned down an appeal from the players fined for misconduct in this seasonís Super Division. The IFAís governing body on Friday decided to stay the action taken by its disciplinary committee against 13 players of East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting.

Meanwhile, the IFA also decided to give Rs 1 lakh each to the big three for maintenance of grounds.

SAI football

Guwahati entered the final of the SAI inter-regional training centre football meet at Salt Lake Stadium. They beat Calcutta 1-0 on Friday, Raju Konwar scoring. Guwahati will face Bangalore, who beat Imphal 2-1 in the other semi-final.

Junior billiards

Saurav Kothari will meet Anurag Bagri in the state junior billiards final. In the semi-final at BRC, Sourav made two century breaks of 100 and 107 en route to his 750-219 win over Bharat Bachhawat. Anurag beat Sanadul Rahman 408-244 in the other match.

Basketball

Bardhaman, South 24 Parganas, South Calcutta and North Calcutta reached the womenís semi-finals of the inter-district basketball meet in Bardhaman. Bardhaman A, Central Calcutta and South Suburban made the menís semis.
