October 19 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar; 11 am: Professor P. Lal reads of Duryodhana’s winning over Salya and Krishna agreeing to become Arjuna’s non-fighting charioteer, in the 200th weekly session of his complete English transcreation of Vyasa’s Mahabharata.

October 19 at Birla Academy; 6 pm: To mark the release of a book by Late Dipali Dutta Roy, Jharna Dutta Roy presents an evening of Tagore songs by Amiyangshu Mukhopadhyay and Kishalaya. Also, an Odissi dance recital by Enakshi Das.
