Saurav Kothari in semis
Saurav Kothari moved into the semi-finals of the state junior billiards championships defeating J.S. Shaw 544-106. Saurav, who dominated the proceedings, took an early lead of 100 points and increased it by stitching together a break of 186.
In another match, Bharat Bachchawat pipped Atul Kariwal by just a couple of points. The final scoreline read 258-256 in favour of the former.

Rain plays spoilsport
The opening day of the under-15 match between CAB XI and Bangladesh XI was abandoned on Thursday following a downpour. CAB XI, batting first, were 80 for one at that stage. The two-day match has been called off and the teams will play a one-dayer at Eden Gardens on Friday.

The South Calcutta women’s team moved into the semi-finals of the inter-district basketball championship defeating South Suburban 48-30 on Thursday.

Okoro arrives
East Bengal striker Mike Okoro arrived in the city on Thursday. Okoro had left for Poland midway through the Calcutta League following the death of his infant daughter. He is expected to join practice on Friday morning.
