Tax slash plea

New Delhi, Oct. 13: State information ministers meeting here today have recommended that entertainment tax in all states be lowered to less than 45 per cent, Union information and broadcasting minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who chaired the meeting, said, reports our special correspondent.

Entertainment tax in Bengal is less than the recommended limit at 30 per cent. The tax is highest in Bihar at 110 per cent. It is 25 per cent in Tamil Nadu, 50 per cent in Chandigarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab.
