Samsung second plant in three years

New Delhi, Oct. 8: Samsung India Electronics plans to focus on the audio and camcorder markets from the next financial year. The company also hopes to start its second manufacturing unit in the next two to three years.

“We see that both the audio and camcorder markets are growing segments. So we will start focusing on it by the middle of next year,” said Ravinder Zutshi, director, Samsung India Electronics (SIE). It already enjoys a global market share of 20 per cent in the camcorder business. The company is also planning to introduce its full product range in India soon.

MD C. H. Yoon said, “We may build another manufacturing unit somewhere in south India in the next two to three years.” He refused to divulge the details of product lines, which will be manufactured in the new plant.

At present, Samsung has 18 per cent global market share in LCD displays, 32 per cent in big-screen televisions and 22 per cent in computer monitors.
