iGate meet to repose faith in Phaneesh

Mumbai, Oct. 6: iGate Global Solutions, current employers of Phaneesh Murthy, has called an extraordinary general meeting on November 7 to confirm his appointment as managing director and chief executive of the company.

Meanwhile, another case of sexual harassment suit has been filed against Infosys Technologies and Phaneesh, its former director and worldwide head.

Jennifer Griffith, a former employee of Infosys, has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit in the superior court of California. It alleges that Phaneesh harassed Griffith while she was an employee of the company.

Infosys, which will announce its second quarter results this week, says the lawsuit will not impact the financials of the company. While Phaneesh termed the latest accusation as a lot of “garbage”.

iGATE informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that at a meeting on October 4 the board had convened the EGM to confirm the appointments of . Ramachandran as a whole-time director and Phaneesh Murthy as CEO and managing director.

Infosys Technologies has said it learned on October 3 that Griffith, a former employee, has filed a lawsuit against the company and Phaneesh.

The lawsuit has not yet been served on the company and Infosys is still reviewing the complainant’s allegations. Based on its present knowledge of facts, Infosys management feels the suit will not have a material impact on the results of operations or the financial position of the company.

For Infosys and Phaneesh, the second lawsuit comes closely behind the out of court settlement of a sexual harassment case filed last July by another ex-employee, Reka Maximovitch.
