Hooghly, Oct. 4: Four persons died in two separate road accidents in Hooghly district since last night.
Two residents of Paikpara, Rajesh Dastidar, 28, and Sunny, 30, died at Bhimpur in the Tarakeswar area around 2.30 pm today when their car rammed into a minibus parked on the Tarakeswar-Arambagh Road.
Pinki Banerjee and Kirnanjit Manna, who were also in the car, have been admitted to RG Kar Hospital.
Rajesh, who was driving the car, lost control when one of the tyres burst, the officer-in-charge of Tarakeswar police station, Arindam Das, said. Police suspect the occupants had consumed alchohol.
In another incident, Rajesh Shaw, 22, and Nitish Mondol, 8, died when the matador they were travelling in lost control and collided head-on with a lorry at Hara More under Haripal police station, about 100 km from Calcutta.
Five persons were seriously injured in the mishap.
