Sonia calls Kerala chief

New Delhi, Oct. 3: The Congress high command has reportedly summoned Kerala unit chief K. Muraleedharan here as the power struggle between A.K. Antony and K. Karunakaran continues apace.

Veteran dissident Karunakaran has reportedly undermined chief minister Antonyís authority by helping a CPM-backed Independent wrest the Ernakulam Lok Sabha seat from the official Congress candidate during last monthís by-election.

The state unit chief ó Karunakaranís son ó is expected to arrive here late tomorrow or on Sunday. He is expected to meet Ahmed Patel, Sonia Gandhiís political secretary in charge of Kerala affairs, before briefing the Congress chief on the electoral embarrassment.

Muraleedharan is learnt to have already sent a detailed report to Sonia, presenting the Karunakaran campís list of charges against Antony. The Kerala chief is also likely to appear before a three-member panel probing complaints of sabotage by party leaders in Ernakulam.
