Sydney: Zimbabwe fast bowler Douglas Hondo is in doubt for next month’s first Test against Australia after injuring himself in a practice game on Monday.
Hondo, one of the three frontline pacemen in the Zimbabwe squad, strained his thumb in a warm-up match against Perth club team Rockingham-Mandura.
Zimbabwe coach Geoff Marsh said Hondo was likely to miss this week’s one-day game against the Australian Cricket Board Chairman’s XI, and possibly the first-class match against Western Australia.
The first Test starts in Perth on October 9. News of Hondo’s injury followed another disappointing day by the touring Africans who were struggling against a team of local district players. (Reuters)
