Beckham ready to bend it in Hollywood

London, Sept. 19 (PTI): After conquering Asia, David Beckham is now ready to bend it in America. Only, this it time would not be on a football pitch but on the silver screen.

The England captain is expected to star in a Hollywood blockbuster based on a football drama, aptly titled Goal.

The £30 million film is being produced by Lawrence Bender along with Mike Jefferies and Matt Barrelle who had earlier won Oscars for Pulp Fiction and Good Will Hunting, The Guardian daily said today. “They are close to agreeing a deal with Beckham”, a source close to the production team was quoted as saying.

Goal will be the first episode in a football trilogy. The script for the first episode sees a young Latino from Los Angeles coming to prove himself in the English premier league. The only location problem for the producers, according to the report, is deciding which club to use as a setting. Three clubs are in the running. Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle .
