Calcutta, Sept. 19: A former personal assistant to member of Parliament Jayanta Bhattacharya was arrested tonight on the charge of making lewd phone calls to Trinamul Congress MLA Nayana Bandopadhyay, police said.
According to the police, Nayana, wife of Trinamul MP Sudip Bandopadhyay, alleged in her complaint that Vivekananda Roy had repeatedly called her on Thursday night.
Bhattacharya, a Trinamul-turned-Congress MP, could not be contacted for comment.
Teachers held
Six persons, including three school teachers, were arrested in Chinsurah, Hooghly, today on charges of ransacking the district primary school council office.
The police said a group of youths was protesting against a government decision making it compulsory for candidates seeking teaching jobs to complete a junior basic course.
