Play-off final after Afro-Asian Games

The play-off final for the Super Division Championship leg will take place after the Afro-Asian Games, scheduled from October 24-November 1. The IFA feels this will allow all the top players to take part in the final. It is also learnt four East Bengal players — Mike Okoro, Mahesh Gawli, Dipak Mondal and Debjit Ghosh — have appealed to the IFA to reduce the fines slapped on them for misbehaving with the referee.

Hardcourt meet

Danielle Jones, Garima Watwani, Riddhima Barooah and Prerna Mythiri Appineni moved into the semi-finals of the girls’ under-12 hard-court tennis tournament at the South Club on Thursday.

Shivika Burman, Shahin Ansari, Garima and Prerana made the U-14 semi-finals.

OTHER WINNERS Boys’ U-14 pre-quarters: Mohammed Imran, Soham Banerjee, Atif Ahmed, Sagnick Basu, Bishnu Pradhan, Mohammed Sarfaraz, Dhruv Arora, Azan Piperno, Aditya Sinha, Ritwick Tiwari, Prem Singh, Manav Agarwal, Surya Shankar Das, Ayush Bajoria. Girls’ U-14 pre-quarters: Likitha Devaraj.

Shibshankar in

Writam Kundu and Shibshankar Paul will replace Sourashish Lahiri and Laxmi Ratan Shukla in the CAB XI for the forthcoming J.P. Atroi tournament in Chandigarh.

Lahiri and Shukla have been selected for the Indian U-23 team for the tri-series in Colombo from September 27.
