Qamar to skip Goa meet

Commonwealth boxing championship winner Mohammed Ali Qamar has planned to skip the Goa international meet, scheduled to start from September 30. Qamar said he needed rest to keep himself fit for the Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad.

Qamar had also skipped the senior nationals held in Bangalore last week.

Richa ahead

Richa Valechha and Pooja Mitra moved into the quarter finals of girls’ under-18 event in the Aarbur Calcutta hardcourt tennis meet at South Club on Wednesday. While Richa blanked out Divya Pandey 6-0, 6-0, Pooja accounted for Divya’s sister, Soumya, 6-3, 6-1.

Meawnhile, Snigdha Tyagi and Madhurima Chaudhuri breezed into semi-finals of the girls under-10 event.

TT meet

The Kacchu Mukherjee memorial state ranking table tennis meet will be held at Ballygunge Institute Boys Training Association, Kalighat Park and Swiss Park Cultural Association from September 26-29. The last date of entry is September 21.
