Ranjan makes U-14 quarters
Top seed Ranjan Prasad blanked Karamveer Dhillon 6-0, 6-0 in the boys under-14 pre-quarters of the hardcourt tennis meet at South Club on Tuesday. Second seed Dharamveer Biswakarma and fourth seed Rohit Kumar also had it easy.

Sarkar for China
City referee Subrata Sarkar will officiate in the Asia Cup football meet in China, 2004 while former Fifa badge-holder Milan Dutta will be the referees’ inspector at the Afro Asian Games in October.
Four outstation referees will officiate in the IFA Shield.
Aloke coach
Aloke Mukherjee will be back as assistant to national coach Stephen Constantaine during the forthcoming Afro Asian Games in Hyderabad.

Muslim Institute earned promotion to first division group A next season by reaching the group B championship play-off final on Tuesday. In the semi-final, they defeated Bata 1-0.
Photo exhibition
Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday inaugurated an exhibition of sports photographs by eminent city photographer Suman Chattopadhyay. A total of Rs 6.5 lakh was collected through auction at the inauguration, of which Rs 5.5 lakh will be donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The exhibition will be held at Gaganendra Pradarshashala on Wednesday and Thursday while the final phase will be at Swabhumi from September 24-26.
