Mulayam’s Hindi crusade

Lucknow, Sept. 14 (PTI): On Hindi Divas, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has ordered that the national language be used in government jobs instead of English.

“Use of English in government jobs should end and to ensure honour to our national language, Hindi should be used,” a press release quoting Mulayam Singh said today. “Hindi is our national language and other languages are its sisters,” it said, adding that adopting Hindi would help check the growing influence of English. The chief minister has ordered that names of officials and ministers be displayed in Hindi and Urdu.
