Buddha pat & sermon for police

Calcutta, Sept. 9: Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today conceded that there is corruption among policemen in the state but claimed that they were more honest than their counterparts across the country.

“Most of our policemen are honest. But being police minister, I must admit a section of policemen still indulges in corrupt practices. It is they who spoil the image of the force,” Bhattacharjee said at the investiture ceremony of the state police.

Police personnel today received awards for their outstanding contribution to the profession and gallantry.

“I urge you to prevent your colleagues from indulging in corrupt practices. If you find your superiors resorting to malpractice, inform us,” he said.
