SC scanner on drugs list

New Delhi, Sept. 7 (PTI): The Supreme Court has sought the Union government’s response to a petition alleging that it did not include vital medicines to fight diseases like diarrhoea and anaemia in the drug price control order, jeopardising the health of millions of impoverished people.

The apex court, which had lambasted the government over non-inclusion of certain essential drugs in the list, has sought response from the ministries of health and chemicals and fertilisers. It has directed listing of the petition along with the Centre's appeal challenging a Karnataka High Court order on the National Pharmaceutical Policy, 2002.
