Ragging relief

Jalpaiguri, Sept. 6: The disciplinary committee of the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College today withdrew the suspension imposed on four students accused of ragging a fresher, Sayandip Bandopadhyay, on the night of August 5.

The governing body had referred the matter to the disciplinary committee yesterday.

“Almost all the members of the disciplinary committee were present in today’s meeting which went on for one hour and fifteen minutes. Finally, it was decided that the suspension would be withdrawn temporarily and the four students would be allowed to continue their classes, appear for examinations and also be allowed to stay in the hostels,” committee chairman and college principal Shyam Sunder Chatterjee said.
