96 countries to participate

Hyderabad: Following years of uncertainty, the inaugural edition of the Afro-Asian Games seems to be actually happening. The will begin here October 24 with the theme of ‘two continents and one spirit’, involving 96 countries.

“About 2,500 sportspersons will participate in the nine-day event to be held in eight disciplines,” Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IOA president Suresh Kalmadi said on Sunday.

Track and field events will be held at GMC Balayogi athletics stadium at Gachibowli. (PTI)
