Young Star win

Brace Bridge and Young Star won their matches in the Friendship Cup knock-out soccer meet organised by the Calcutta Police at the Body Guard’s Line. While Brace Bridge beat Samsul Huda Youth Society 4-0, Young Star downed Ghughu Danga Sporting Club 2-1.

Junior tennis

The east zone leg of the Nike Junior tennis tour will start at the Bengal Tennis Association complex from Sunday. The seven-day programme will involve players of the under-12 and 14 categories.

State TT meet

Deshabandhu Sporting Club of Chandannagore will organise an all Bengal state table tennis tournament starting on Thursday. The three-day meet will mark the beginning of the second phase of the club’s platinum jubilee celebrations, which started on May 1.

National Sports Day

The BHA, in association with the State Sports Council, will celebrate the National Sports Day and the 98th birth anniversary of Dhyan Chand at the Khudiram Anushilan Kendra on Friday.

Two five-a-side hockey matches will be played — one featuring the women and the other the under-14 players. It will be followed by the annual prize distribution ceremony.
