Doctor gets bail before arrest

Santiniketan, Aug. 25: The doctor accused of attempting to molest an American student at Visva-Bharati got bail from a court in Bolpur today.

The doctor attached to Pearson Memorial Hospital had sought anticipatory bail after the student lodged an FIR against him on August 22.

Amber Field, a student of Sangeet Bhavan, had alleged that he had attempted to molest her at the hospital when she went for a medical check up mandatory for all students at the varsity.

Animal care

People For Animals, Calcutta, an animal-welfare NGO, will impart a three-month course on elementary animal and nature care to five youngsters from Midnapore and one from South 24-Parganas, says a staff reporter.

The course will be flagged off at Ashari (the animal shelter-cum hospital and research institute) at Mukundapur off EM Bypass on August 27.
