Apple launches fastest PC

New Delhi, Aug. 20: Apple Computers Inc today launched fastest personal computer -- Power Mac G5 with 64-bit desktop processor.

The Power Mac 5 is a sleek desktop computer with an anodised aluminium alloy enclosure and four independently controlled thermal zones for advanced airflow. It has nine fans to cool the fast running components.

On the technical aspect, the new product from Apple is Bluetooth ready for wireless connections like wi-fi based on 802.11b and 802.11g specifications to be compatible with a host of blue-tooth enabled peripherals. The computer has been fitted with the Power PC G5 processor from IBM.

The base model of Power Mac G5 is priced at Rs 1.74 lakh and with advanced features the product is priced at Rs 2.54 lakh. The computers will be available in India by the month-end and will be shipped with Macintosh operating system Xv10.2. iChat is the new feature in addition to the existing software like Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office.

Apple also launched the iChat AV software application and the iSight digital video camera. Together they will offer high-quality video conferencing between two Macintosh users over any broadband connection.
